Rendering maestro Shoeb R Kalania from IndianAutosBlog has provided us with his interpretation of the Mahindra MPV – a possible competitor to the Toyota Innova Crysta and the upcoming Tata Hexa.
Codename U321, the Mahindra’s upcoming MPV is also reported to be called ‘TUV500’ for now. Like the XUV500, this is going to be a global launch sometime in 2017. At the moment nothing much is known about this MPV, it is expected to be based either on a brand new platform or on a monocoque platform with front-wheel drive architecture, even its unclear if its sourced from an existing monocoque product.
As for powertrain options, it is likely that the diesel and petrol mills will be employed here. On the diesel side, we could be looking at a 2.2-litre diesel m-Hawk diesel engine, while the downsized 1.99-litre m-Hawk diesel engine for the Kerala and NCR Delhi region. As for petrol options, expect an all new 1.5-litre 4 cyl engine to make debut in this MPV. Transmission options will include the manual as well as the automatic.
According to the reports, the Mahindra U321 MPV is the first project developed by Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in the city of Troy in Michigan.
