The Lamborghini Gallardo is a very important model for the supercar brand. The company has sold more than 12,000 units, making it Lamborghini’s best-seller after the discontinued Murcielago, which sold a total of 4,099 units – so getting a successor for the Gallardo is very crucial.
Speaking to CARandDRVIER, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, said that the replacement will make ‘a clear cut’ from the Gallardo, especially when it comes to looks.
“We always say that design is not an evolution but a revolution, and this will be the philosophy of the follow-up to the Gallardo,” he said.
Like CARandDRIVER, we’re guessing the next Gallardo will be influenced by the Aventador when it comes to design.
Other than that, we learn that the new Gallardo will be built on Volkswagen Group’s modular sports-car architecture, which will also be used for the next R8. The V10 is likely to be upgraded to produce near 600bhp.
