Kawasaki India will begin their post – Bajaj journey in India by launching 5 new products out of which 3 are the next-gen models of the existing Z650, Ninja 650 and Z900. While the Ninja 300 and Versys 650 gets some cosmetic changes to keep it fresh amidst growing competition from KTM.
The new Z650 launched at 5.19 Lakh (ex showroom – Delhi) will replace the premium ER – 6n while the Z900 will replace the existing Z800. The Z900 will have more power than the outgoing model and will be priced at 9 lakh (ex showroom – Delhi). The Ninja 650 which is the most capable bike in the Ninja series, will be massively updated.
Its sibling, the Ninja 300 gets a facelift and will sport new graphics, a Petal Disc brake and Petal type Disc brake at front and rear respectively with a 2 piston hydraulic calliper. It comes at a price of 3.64 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).
The 2017 Versys 650 gets a new Kawasaki green and black paint scheme in place of the all-black paintjob. Apart from this, the company has also added a gear position indicator based on customer demand. The updated Versys 650 is priced at Rs 6.60 lakh (ex-Delhi).
The Z900, with its sharp lines and 948cc engine could spring a surprise or two while the Z650 will make a more competitive ER-6n with its free flowing 650cc parallel twin motor, which also powers the Ninja 650.
These bikes will kick off a new-era for Kawasaki in India. These are expected to shake up the middleweight motorcycle segment and give some sleepless nights to arch rivals KTM and Honda.
