In the spotlight on the Jeep stand at recently held 2016 Indian Auto Expo at Greater Noida, the company showcased the Wrangler Unlimited, the Grand Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee SRT. The star of the stand was the Mopar-tuned Wrangler Unlimited in the Jeep family.
All Jeep models will be initially brought in via the CBU route into India while Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) promises local production later on so as to keep costs in check.
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
The brand’s off-road specialist, the Wrangler Unlimited made its first public appearance at the biennial event. The major highlight of the Wrangler is the removable roof and door, making it one of a kind. It will make its way into India via the CBU route in mid-2016.
Sadly, the Wrangler 2-door version will not be available in India. Only the 4-door Wrangler Unlimited will be launched here. It will be available with a choice of – a 3.6-litre V6 24-Valve VVT petrol engine and a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The legendary off-road capabilities of the Wrangler range are delivered by the two-speed ‘shift-on-the fly’ Command-Trac NV241 part-time all-wheel drive system.

Both the Grand Cherokee Limited and Summit will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 EcoDiesel engine, which is capable of churning out 240 bhp and 570 Nm of peak torque. The engine come mated to 8-Speed Paddle-Shift Automatic Transmission. The petrol engine option has not been revealed yet.
