Jeep gears-up to launch Grand Cherokee in India

Jeep, the American SUV would be running again on Indian roads as Italian Auto Company Fiat, has planned to re-introduce its iconic brand again paving its way to the Indian car market with its model Grand Cherokee.

Mr. Michael Manley, President and CEO of Jeep said that they recognise that Indian customers appreciate good value and they are keen to provide that with their Grand Cherokee. Jeep was a part of Chrysler group and is now owned by Fiat; Jeep had also invented a famous series of off-roaders for the army known as CJ series.

For quite some time now, Jeep has been rendering its range of products with diesel engines which would make the models suitable for European Market. On account of growing demand of diesel vehicles, the Jeep models are now suitable for the Indian car market as well.

The Grand Cherokee is built on the same platform of Mercedes Benz M-class. It looks tough with a seven-slat grille, large bonnet, exaggerated wheel arches and an attractive-looking rear part.

Under the hood, the new Grand Cherokee with a 3.0-litre V6 common-rail diesel engine which offers a very good power and torque. The engine has a displacement of 2987cc and is mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox.

It is expected to be priced below Rs.40 lakhs. After its launch in India, Grand Cherokee will be followed by Commander, Compass and Patriot models of Jeep. Other details of the SUV will be revealed soon. Stay tuned to get more details of the new Grand Cherokee of Jeep.
