Recent reports emerging that Hyundai India, enthused by the response that the Mahindra XUV500 has garnered, is planning a mini SUV. In India, the perennial debate of SUV vs Sedan continues even as the preference for SUVs is growing as bad roads still continue to exist in India, where an SUV makes much more sense than a sedan or a hatchback.
In a country like India success is all about a well designed car with enough features and a VFM (Value For Money). The best example for this is the recent addition in the SUV segment, the Mahindra XUV500. The credit of its success lies in its toughness, radical design, breathtaking features and impressive pricing. Ever since its launch, other potent brands are also in the race to come up with a similar product but the most interesting part is that Hyundai is also competing with them.
If everything falls according to plans of the auto major, the Hyundai Mini SUV concept car is purported to be showcased at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. The proposed mini SUV from the Korean manufacturer will be the weapon to compete against the Mahindra’s mini SUV, which is still under the development stage. One thing for sure Hyundai’s Mini SUV will follow a Hyundai’s fluidic design sculpture.
Mahindra Mini SUV price is likely to be around Rs 4 lakhs giving us an inkIing of what Hyundai’s SUV price could be. As being reported, the car will be under 4-meters and could probably have Tucson looks. Moreover, Hyundai is not a complete stranger in the SUV segment Hyundai Tucson, if you don’t remember was a crossover SUV launched by Hyundai a couple of years back. However, the model had been phased out to extinction in the country due to Hyundai’s profound image as a hatchback manufacturer.
Now, after many years, the brand is all set to rock the compact SUV segment with a low cost offering. Speculations say that it would be priced around Rs. 4 Lakh and will be packed with interesting features. Earlier the Tucson was brought via the CBU route, which was quite expensive but now with enough local vendors in its favor, the brand has the potential to impress the customers.
