When one thinks of Big American Muscle cars, most of the time, the first brand/name to come to mind is the Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang is the quintessential Muscle car, and everyone from a 5-year old to an 80-year old knows a Mustang, and now, it is finally coming to India.
There were quite a few rumors in the grapevine about Ford launching the Mustang in India, but none had solid evidence as the car had not been spotted in India till now. Recently, one of the readers from another website spotted a Ford Mustang near the ARAI centre in Pune.
ARAI(Automotive research Authority of India) is the authority over certification required to get the permit required by a manufacturer to Launch an Automobile in the country and the Mustang being spotted at ARAI only confirms that it has been brought in for certification deeming it fit for Indian Roads. Import Data too has confirmed this fact as, Ford had imported a Mustang to India for Testing and R&D purposes.
The Ford Mustang was Launched in Right-Hand Drive for the first time in 2014 and this was done so that Ford could Bring it to Right-Hand Driven countries like the UK and a few European and Asian countries including India.
In the USA, the Mustang can be had with three engines as options. The base variant is powered by a V6 Petrol Engine, the Mid Variant is powered by a 2.3-litre EcoBoost Engine and then there is the Mighty 5-liter V8. The United Kingdom received only the 2.3 Ecoboost, Inline-Four cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 314 BHP and a maximum torque output of 434 NM and also the Mighty 5-liter V8 with a maximum power output of 418 BHP and a maximum torque output of524 NM. The base variant V6 engine was shelved for the European Market and I think it might be the same for the Indian Market too.
Well, I do not know what engine options or features the Mustang would have in India, but I do Know this that Mustang fan-boys in India will be eagerly awaiting the launch of the upcoming Ford Mustang in India.
