Fiat has resumed production of the Abarth Punto recently, which was temporarily restricted by the company after failing to make ends meet. The 2017 Abarth Punto will be available in Fiat showrooms from now onwards. The Abarth Punto will be sold alongside its sibling, the Grande Punto, which has fallen off the buyer’s radar for the past few years.
Initially, Fiat produced the first batch of 40 cars to dispatch to their dealership networks across the country. Then the company, inorder to sell many vehicles lying in stock, decided to halt the car’s production temporarily in late-2016. The company is now all-set to resume the model after some time.
Rumours came out that the company will resume production of the car immediately after Iiggy unveils the Jeep Compass in June this-year. The Compass had received his reviews from experts and Fiat looked at it as a launch pad to relaunch the Abarth Punto. The sporty hatchback will come with 2 colour options – Pearl White and HipHop Black.
Powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet engine producing 212 Nm of Torque and a manic 145 BHP of power, the Fiat claims the car can reach a 0-100 in just 8.8 seconds. The car has potential to set the enthusiasts pulse racing, but sadly this has not resulted in changing Fiat’s stagnant sales. Fiat will not tamper the dynamics of the car in order to earn profits, but will see the car as a launch pad for the next-generation Punto arriving late next-year.
