Ferrari California T launched in India – 552bhp, priced at Rs. 3.45 Crore

Ferrari, the Italian supercar’s maker has marked its second innings in India by launching its entry-level offering – Ferrari California T priced at Rs. 3.45 Crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The Ferrari California T made its appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014. It is the first vehicle from the Ferrari, in more than 20 years, to be turbocharged earlier models were the GTO of 1984 and the F40 of 1987. The Ferrari range, including the California T will be sold in two dealers located in Mumbai and Delhi: Select Cars Pvt. Ltd. in Delhi and Navnit Motors in Mumbai.

Design-wise, the California T is an evolution of the outdated Ferrari California – fresh items in front include the 458-style headlights, front grille and intakes, while the rear features a new triple-fence diffuser and quad exhaust layout. It measures 4,570 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width and 1,322 mm in height. The California T has a 2+2 seating configuration, and the company claims that its retractable hard-top can go up or down in just 14 seconds.

Step-inside, you’ll notice the interior borrows design cues from Ferrari’s latest range, the dashboard and seats are trimmed in leather. It is equipped with a 6.5-inch touch-screen infotainment system which also displays data like turbo pressure and engine output being used. It gets a Turbo Performance Engineer (TPE) display between the two middle air vents a sign of things to come.

Powering the California T is a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine that spits-out 552bhp @ 7,500 rpm and 755 Nm of torque @ 4,750 rpm. Power goes to the rear-wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch automatic with paddle shifters. Ferrari claims that the California can touch 100 kph from a standstill in 3.6 seconds and attain a top speed of 316 kph. Under European driving cycle, California T returns a mileage of 9.5 kmpl.
