Chevrolet Cruze to get upgrade by end-2011

The Chevrolet Cruze is slated to a get facelift by the end of this year. The new Cruze will be offered with a new upgraded engine which will get the Z-series engine which will add more power to the engine and will also feature a mild cosmetic update. GM India, based on customer feedback, is also redesigning the rear seats to improved headroom.

At present, Chevrolet Cruze is power by the 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 150-bhp and the upgraded engine will get the 2.0-litre, DOHC, commom rail diesel motors that will generate 163-bhp of power i.e., 13-bhp higher and the torque boost around 30Nm.

GM doesn’t want the get any new car in D-segment to affect the sales of the Cruze and thus have decided to keep the Cruze competitive enough to be the segment leader. With the new Volkswagen Jetta being launched on the 17th of August, the Cruze facelift is being done at a very right time. Expect slight increase in prices to the tune of Rs. 20,000/- with the launch of the updated model.
