Audi R8 V10 Spyder Launched in India

Audi R8 V10 Spyder

The Germans are back with tough competition. Audi India pulled the wraps off the 2011 Audi R8 Spyder “drop top” supercar at the ongoing Mint Luxury conference at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai. The SuperCar is essentially a convertible version of the hard top Audi R8. Featuring a 5.2 Litre, FSI V10 engine good enough for 525 bhp and 530 Nm of torque, the Audi R8 Spyder will give you all the kicks of a supercar while also letting the world know you’ve arrived as you can drop its top at the drop of a hat, literally. Finally we have all 3 variants of Audi R8 here in India.

In 19 seconds, the Audi R8 Spyder will go from a coupe to a convertible, with the minimum of fuss. With a nought to hundred sprint time of 4.1 seconds a top speed of 313 Kph, this supercar rides on massive 19 incher wheels with a full time all wheel drive “Quattro” mode. Made of lightweight aluminium with the required reinforcements to make sure that the car’s body remains stiff at the extreme speeds and performance this machine is capable of, the Audi R8 weighs 1,720 kilograms.

The car came up first in the movie Iron-Man 2 in 2008. Globally sales began in 2009 and now we too have it! The soft-top beauty comes with the same 5.2L V10 engine producing whooping 518bhp power! This is the same engine that Audi R8 V10 has, the one sourced from Lamborghini! The top fabric weighs just about 30kg and opens and closes in just 19 seconds at speeds up to 50km/h. This super-sport is priced very high, at Rs 1.47lacs (Ex-showroom price, Maharashtra) and comes as a CBU from Germany. R8 Spyder has got good response in India, 3 bookings are already there with Audi on the 1st day itself.
