BMW have bought their much-awaited M2 competition to the Indian market. The M2 competition will be positioned as a high performance sports car below the Rs. 1 crore mark at an introductory price of Rs. 79.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
This makes it the most affordable M badged car from the German automaker in India. The M2 competition will come here via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) import route, and will be available in BMW dealerships across India. It comes with a host of colour options, namely Alpine White, Sunset Orange, Long Beach Blue, Hockenheim Silver and Black Sapphire.
The highlight of the M2 competition will be the presence of M bits in the wing mirrors, grille, exhaust system and the interiors. Features include an touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 205-watt colour display, iDrive controller, rear view camera, park distance control system and so on. As far as safety is concerned, the M2 Competition has an active M differential safety kit, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), ABS, 6 airbags and cruise control to name a few.
Power is derived from a 3.0-litre, turbocharged, straight six motor. This engine delivers 410 BHP of power along with 550 Nm of torque. It will come mated to a dual-clutch, 7-speed automatic gearbox.
BMW claims that the car can achieve the 0-100 kph mark in just 4.2 seconds, with a top speed of 250 kph. The M2 Competition will have its rivals in the form of the Mercedes AMG CLA 45 and the Porsche 718 Cayman. BMW have said that the current M2 is a spiritual successor to the legendary BMW M3 of the 1980’s.
