Tata Motors are set to launch a special edition of their compact sedan, the Tigor soon. The car will be christened the Tigor Buzz edition and will be an attempt to cash in on the increased demand during the festive season by the carmaker. Recently, the Tigor Buzz edition was spotted in a dealership, indicating that its launch is not far away.
The Tigor Buzz edition will largely carry some cosmetic changes and will be sold in limited numbers. Changes include a black roof and spoiler, black ORVM’s, a blacked out pillar and so on. Inside the cabin, the car features a dual-tone colour theme with a piano black finish and red accents with new patterned seat fabrics. Major addition is the entry-level ConnectNext infotainment system, which is unavailable in the Tata Tigor XE.
The Tigor Buzz will be based on the entry-level XE grade variant sold by the automaker. Mechanically, the Tigor Buzz will be the same as a stock Tigor, employing a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 83.8 BHP of power and 114 Nm of torque.
On the other hand, there will be a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine giving 69 bhp of power and 140 Nm of torque. Both these engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The petrol variants of the Tigor are also available with the option of an AMT.
Launch is expected to take place in mid-2018, precisely a month away from now. We can expect it to undercut its rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Ford Aspire on price and garner some sales momentum for the automaker. At the moment, the Tigor is seeing good demand so that may make the job easier for the Tigor Buzz edition to enter the market.
