TVS Motor Company has officially launched the new 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V in India at Rs 81,490 to Rs. 89,990 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The new bike is on-sale in 3 variants – carburetted with front disc, carburetted with front and rear disc and fuel-injected (EFI) with front and rear disc.
Aesthetically, the Apache RTR 160 4V looks similar to its larger sibling – the RTR 200 4V. The front and rear fairing, fuel tanks, headlamp assembly and the instrument cluster are a straight lift from the 200cc machine. The ‘shotgun’ style exhaust though has been carried over. However, the RTR 160 4V misses-out on clip-on handlebars and split seats offered on the bigger sibling.
The Apache RTR 160 4V draws power from a four-valve (4V), 159.7cc single-cylinder air with oil-cooled engine that develops 16.8 PS (in the EFI) and 16.5 PS (in the Carb trim) of power at 8000 RPM and 14.8 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle sprints from 0-60 KMPH in 4.73 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 113 KMPH on the Carb variant. While the EFI variant takes 4.8 seconds and boasts of a top speed of 114 KMPH.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is expected to compete against the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Honda CB Hornet 160R, Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-S. A total of 3 stunning colours are on offer – Racing Red, Metallic Blue and Knight Black.
