In Frankfurt next month, Audi will show up to the show with the new Audi A8 Hybrid, which will enter series production in 2012.
The A8 Hybrid makes use of 2.0 TFSI petrol engine and a 54 hp electric motor which produces a combined power output of 245 PS and a torque of 480 Nm. Apart from the notable fuel economy, the A8H can also three kilometres at 60 km/h on battery power alone. Mated to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission, the A8 Hybrid goes from 0 to 100 kph in 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 235 kph.
What about the fuel-efficiency? The Audi A8 Hybrid delivers a respectable 36.8 mpg (15.64 kpl). Emissions from the flagship Audi limousine stand at 148 grams. The fuel economy might not be as attractive as one might have expected but you should consider the amount of space and luxury it offers. Having said that, the Audi A8 is a very heavy car with all the leather and the wood which does take a toll on the fuel economy.
The 2013 Audi A8 Hybrid will make its public debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The A8H is expected to launch across Audi showrooms by 2012 – which is the fifteenth anniversary year of the Toyota Prius!
