2017 KTM Duke range launched in India – 200/250/390cc, from Rs. 1.43 lakh to Rs. 2.25 lakh

The 2017 range of smaller Duke motorcycles from Austrian manufacturer KTM was launched in India. Comprising of 3 models, the 2017 range of KTM Duke include – the 390, the 250 and the 200. Let’s get into the details then, shall we?

Finally we get the Duke 250, while the 390 gets major upgrades, and the 200 is now BS-IV ready.

In the case of the 390 models, it receives comprehensive cosmetic changes. The front gets split headlamp with a full-LED unit. New features include a colour TFT display which is a segment-first. There is an optional MY RIDE multimedia interface that links his smartphone via Bluetooth. The new 390 Duke retails at Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-Delhi), a hike of Rs 30,000 over the previous model.

The new 390 Duke gets the same 373.2cc liquid-cooled motor that makes 44PS, but it is Euro-IV compliant. It gets ride-by-wire and riding modes that can be selected via a new menu switch on the handlebar. It has a conventional side-mounted muffler now. Slipper clutch is carried over. The clutch and brake lever are adjustable now.

The newest addition to the KTM Duke range in India is the 250 Duke. Visually it looks similar to the bigger 390, however, the 250 doesn’t get the all-LED headlamp setup and it also gives the TFT colour display a miss and the bike features an updated digital unit instead. Another differentiator is the black alloys, whereas the 390 and 200 come with bright orange ones.

The 248.8cc liquid-cooled motor puts out 30PS, 5PS more than the 200 Duke and also gets a slipper clutch. It also misses out on the ride-by-wire tech and stickier Metzelers from the 390 (it’s shod with MRF Revz C1 rubber), also it misses ABS even as an option, all in the interest of keeping the prices low. The 250 Duke will retail at Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-Delhi) for the non-ABS version.

The 200 Duke hasn’t been given any comprehensive updates retains the old body styles with revised graphics. Yes, it’ now BS-IV compliant, and comes with 3 paint schemes: Orange, White and Black. Power is supplied from the same 199.5 cc, single-cylinder engine that develops 25 BHP @ 10,000 rpm and 19.2 Nm @ 8,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and still no ABS, even as an option. The bike retails at Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-Delhi).
