Seen testing in Spain, the engine is speculated to be much rumoured 750cc parallel twin engine by Royal Enfield in the chassis of the Continental GT.
The 750cc twin-cylinder Royal Enfield will compete against the likes of Triumph Bonneville and is expected to go on-sale by 2018 in India. It is likely to be based on the Continental GT cafe racer’s platform. The final production version is expected to look significantly different from the one seen here in the spy pictures.
Surprisingly, the engine seems to be carburetted rather than fuel injected. This means the bike would be launched in India before going on sale in international markets, as there’s no way in the world that those carburetors will allow it to meet the stringent Euro 4 emission norms. Royal Enfield’s UK technical centre and its subsidiary Harris Performance are actively involved in its development.
