Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd., a leading premium commercial vehicles and engines manufacturer at the eagerly awaited 13th Auto Expo showcased R580 utility truck and launched the G310 truck and a Citywide bus in India.
Further, the company also displayed its latest technology of converting local sewage and water waste to meet local fuel demands.
Scania R580 6×4 Puller
The Scania R580, the most powerful on-road truck on Indian roads, has been certified by ARAI under a brand new category named ‘puller’. Although the market share for such pullers is very little, it shows the capability and product availability in Scania’s portfolio in India.
Comes equipped with a V8 engine, the R580 puller also includes G 460 6×4, G410 6×2 and P 410 8×4 Mining and Coal Tipper. The one here is an R Series and is the most premium of the lot. The company is in a joint venture with Larsen & Toubro for a range of Mining vehicles.
Scania G310 6×2 Haulage Tractor
The G310 truck is the smallest offering truck from Scania in terms of engine power. But its still a premium product and creates a new category for Scania, with the company being the only player in this premium segment currently. It is equipped with Scania OptiCruise, a fully automatic gear change system that improves the vehicle’s performance by selecting gears that are most appropriate.
It is also India’s first reefer carrier (refrigerated) with 40′ load-body. The G310 truck features AC, Traction control, load transferring option to drive axle, liftable tag axle and is coupled with ABS, ensures that all wheels have enough traction to keep the vehicle stable in case of wheel slips.
Scania Citywide Bus
The Citywide is India’s first biofuel-powered commercial bus and comes with a low floor and low entry for better and greater passenger flow and comfort. The bus is compatible with all commercially available biofuels complying with Bharat Stage (BS) 4, Euro 5, and Euro 6.
It’s well established in many countries that the use of biofuels in public transport improves air quality, reduces CO2 emission and makes a city cleaner and smarter. With the Citywide bus launch in India, Scania moves a step closer towards realizing a sustainable transport system in India.
