Tata Motors showcased the production ready Nexon SUV at the Auto Expo 2016 after the concept debut at the Auto Expo 2014 alongside the Hexa and the Kite5. Tata Motors plans to launch the Nexon by the end of 2016 or early 2017. Built on the same modified X1 platform as the Bolt, the Nexon is styled on Tata’s new “Impact Design” philosophy.
On the exterior the Nexon features a dual-tone colour, bulkier stance, plastic cladding on the running board, LED Daytime Running Lights in the front, LED tail lights, new 16-inch alloys wheels that gives it a ground clearance of 200mm, projector headlamps, chrome grille, fog lights, ORVM with turn indicators, and a matte black roof with roof spoiler at the rear.
The interior of the Nexon is equipped with a Harman-sourced 6.5-inch ConnectNext touchscreen infotainment system with eight speakers. Features such as voice control and command recognition are also offered.
Powering the Nexon will be a four cylinder 1.5-litre diesel engine developed under the Revotorq brand which will produce a 110 PS of power. Although the spec of the petrol engine is not yet revealed, it can be expected to be a 1.2-litre engine developed under the Revotron brand producing a power of 90 PS. Both the engines will be coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission gear box with 3 drive modes.
Once launched the Nexon will compete with the SUV’s in its class like the Ford Ecosport, Mahindra TUV 300 and the upcoming Maruti Vitara Brezza
