Mahindra Supro. That’s the name the home-grown brand has chosen for its new U301 compact SUV, which will replace both the existing Bolero and Bolero pick-up versions.
Motor Octane says Mahindra model named ‘Supro’ means ‘Top’ in Esperanto. The company stays true to tradition of ending a vehicle’s name with ‘O’ even with the newcomer. The Supro will be available in diesel only and two-wheel drive variants and expected to be 7-seater like Quanto. And will be targeted at the youths in the rural market.
The Supro is based on an all-new platform and is currently going through testing phase. The vehicle is expected to commence production this month (July), while the launch can be expected in sometime August or September. Powering the Supro will be the 3-cylinder 1.5-liter engine used in the Quanto, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission and AMT (automated manual transmission).
