Alongside the Hexa Concept, Tata Motors also unveiled Bolt Sport at the on-going Geneva Motor Show. As its name suggests, its a sportier version of Tata Bolt with significant mechanical changes a host of cosmetic changes to the interior & exterior.
The standard car’s 1.2-litre REVOTRON petrol engine has been tuned to vomit 120 Bhp (30 Bhp more) of power at a higher 5500 RPM with 170 Nm (30 Nm more) of torque at a higher 2000-3500 RPM, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine now comes with a remapped ECU and a high-flow exhaust system that makes it produce more power and torque.
Power is transmitted to the wheels by Fiat’s C501 gearbox (that powers the Bolt diesel). Other tweaks include a stiffer track-tuned suspension which gives the car a lower stance. The car comes with disc brakes on all four wheels, ABS, dual front airbags and Corner Stability Control. Talking of wheels, the rim size has increased to 17 inches now, and it wears 205-section tyres.
Cosmetically, the exterior too has been updated to match the ‘Sport’ moniker. The front features a new racing-styled bumper with large airdam, angular fog lamps housing and lower bumper lip. The side profile gets a revised fender with air scoops and a side skirt, while the rear gets new bumper with diffuser styling and twin exhausts. The strip above the number plate appears to be mildly altered.
On the inside, the Bolt Sport comes with black leather interiors with red contrast stitching and red inserts. The steering wheel, seats, handbrake and gear cladding are wrapped in black leather with red stitching. The aluminum pedals are also new. Also there’s a sunroof, along with a Harman infotainment system with voice recognition and SMS readout option. It also gets speed dependent volume control.
