The second-gen Kia Soul made its first public appearance at the New York Auto Show in March-2013; now Kolkata car fanatics! group member named Rohan Dayal has shared the firsrever spy pictures of Kia Soul compact SUV on Indian soil. It was spotted in Noida, Uttar Pradesh (U.P), it maybe a global test mule for road test in India and not a part of Indian launch test, but nothing is official as of now.
Second-gen Kia Soul launched in Nepal back in June-2014, now spotted in Noida.
Seen here is the Right Hand Drive (RHD) variant. The Kia Soul is positioned below the upcoming B-segment crossover/compact SUV based on the Hyundai ix25. Inspired by the 2012 Track’ster concept, the new-gen Kia Soul retains the soul of the original, which began production in 2008 and received a minor update in 2011. What it gains is an all-new platform, based on that of the current Kia cee’d.
The Soul is available with a choice of two engines – a petrol and a diesel. The petrol model uses a 1.6-liter engine to make 124 PS and 156 Nm of torque. The 1.6-liter diesel with a variable geometric turbo churns 128 PS and 26o Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. As for the prices, the new Soul range is positioned between Rs. 9.2 lakh to Rs. 12.14 lakh in International markets.
Although nothing is official about the Kia Soul in India, we too are not sure if it’s a test-mule or has come down from our neighbouring countries like Bhutan or Nepal, looking at registration plates makes us believe its from Bhutan. Kia Motors, Hyundai’s sister car-maker concern is one of the popular small car maker based out of Korea. The Kia brand is yet to enter the Indian market.
