To achieve success in the Indian auto sector or to catch up the attraction of the car-buyers; for this purpose, Tata Motors is striving hard to launch the Nexon compact crossover SUV. First showcased at 2014 Auto Expo, the Nexon SUV Concept gathered many positive responses from the viewers, furthermore, the SUV is on demand to showcase at the upcoming IIMS (Indonesia International Motor Show) 2014, scheduled in September.
Tata Nexon Compact Crossover Concept – FrontView
Based on the Vista platform (also underpins the Bolt), the Nexon SUV is a futuristic concept built on the Tata HorizoNEXT vision. It is designed and developed around five important points, Design, Drivability, Performance, Connect, and fuel efficient. Features like LED headlights, an electric 4WD system, floating console and double sliding doors will be omitted on the production-spec version. As per trusted source, Tata Motors has promised to launch the Nexon Compact SUV in India in February-2016.
As per the head of design at Tata Motors and the Nexon concept’s creator, Pratap Bose the production-spec Nexon will remain true to the concept car. In a recent interview to ET Auto, he says that the Nexon with its ‘coupe-like profile’ (remember the upcoming GLA) will be the best looking cars in the segment and will stand out in its segment which otherwise consists of cars with a ‘boxy’ design. Bose states that the crossover will stand out for its ‘silhouette and stance’.

The Nexon is an important product for Tata Motors, who is going through one of their worst periods as far as sales is concerned. Good news is, they have already started to make progress in the right direction. Nano sales are improving post launch of Nano Twist, Zest and Bolt are nearing launch, and new staff is getting hired across their dealerships in India, which is aimed to give their customers a pleasant experience. Designed by Tata Design Studios in UK, Italy and Pune, Nexon will compete with the likes of Ford EcoSport, and yet to be launched Mahindra S101, Maruti XA Alpha, etc…
