Just yesterday, we brought you the firstever spy pictures of all-new 2015 Honda City spotted testing in Thailand. Also we reported that Honda is all-set to unveil its 6th generation Honda City this-month, now confirming the same, News Anchor & Editor Auto @NDTV, Siddharth V Patankar, popularly known as ‘SVP’ has recently updated his followers on his Car & Bike Show by NDTV Facebook page that ‘6th generation Honda City global reveal to be in India on 25th Nov. Diesel variant too! Production/deliveries only post Jan though.’
This makes us believe that the test-mules of 2015 City has already hit our shores. Surprisingly, the Global Premiere of the latest version of the popular City sedan will happen in India that to on 25th November, as we were expecting the next-gen City to premiere at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, along with the new 2014 Jazz hatchback and Brio-based Mobilio MPV. Based on the Honda Jazz platform, the 2015 City will feature an all-new design and additional features. The car is likely to get larger in size, opening up a larger gap between itself and the much lower priced Amaze compact sedan.
6th generation Honda City
Until the arrival of the Honda Amaze, the City sedan has been the bread earner of Honda Cars India for many years. The car has been a highest selling model for the Japanese car brand, despite being available only with a petrol engine. The diesel-ization of the Indian car market meant that the City sedan, once a best seller in the C-Segment sedan space, gave-up ground to cars such as the Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento, both of which were available with petrol and diesel engine options.
The current-gen City sedan, considering that it is available only in petrol guise, still manages to deliver decent volumes for Honda. With the addition of a new turbo diesel engine option under its hood, the 2015 Honda City sedan could pump-up the sales further. With the pricing of the Honda Amaze, the Japanese car maker has demonstrated willingness to bite the bullet when it comes to pricing cars competitively. If Honda manages to do an Amaze with the 2015 City diesel’s pricing, the competition will have plenty to worry about, plus the Honda brand itself is very strong and so is the dealer network.
The deliveries of all-new 2015 Honda City will commence from or after January next-year.
