Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India – HMSI has announced that they will be launching a new edition of their CBR250R motorcycle in India by the end of this month. Honda Motors added that the new CBR250R will not be featuring any major upgrades. 2012 Honda CBR250R will feature a new three tone color option, in addition to the existing range of colors. Honda will also be increasing the price of CBR250R by Rs 1,500.
“The new bike has gone under production by the middle of this month,” Mr Naresh Rattan, VP, Marketing and Sales, HMSI, said. Honda CBR250R usually accounts for about 2,500 – 3,000 units monthly sales in India. But since Thai floods, production is on the decline due to shortage in supplies. Last month Honda Motors sold just 140 units of CBR250R in India. Honda also said that they will be launching new CBR150R sportsbike next month in India with an approximate price tag of Rs 1.15 lacs.
“There is no dearth of demand for premium priced bikes in India despite a broader slowdown in demand for the commuter bikes witnessed by a few players. The market is growing rapidly even is such times. There have been issues relating to components shortage due to the recent floods in Thailand which has impacted local production. This matter is being sorted out before we launch the new version.” HMSI is also working on bringing highend sportsbike in India. Honda is planning on launching CB1000R and CBR Fireblade in India.
