Mahindra & Mahindra will be launching the facelift version of its best selling MUV Mahindra Xylo today. The new Mahindra Xylo launch will mark the first major makeover of this Mahindra car after it was launched in 2009. The new Xylo will be sporting lots of new features inside out but prominent among them is the change in specially the front appearance and the sides. The new Mahindra Xylo is expected to carry a price tag between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Soon, it is expected that the Mahindra Xylo Mini which is the under four meter hatch version of the big one will also be launched in India.
Now thanks to Cousins On Cars have photographed the basic version of the Xylo facelift with black bumpers and plain looks. Come tomorrow and the new Xylo will be launched giving sleepless nights to Toyota which has launched the new version of its best selling MPV Toyota Innova lately and to Tata which has Tata Sumo Grande pitched against this MUV. However, the spy pics suggest that the Mahindra Xylo new has the looks and power under the hood to continue a firm ground for itself.
The exterior is the area where new Xylo will be receiving the maximum amount of makeover. All the traits of the present Xylo front seem to have been cleared off and it is now inspired with the front facia of the Mahindra XUV 500. The front styling is more squarer and there are prominent wheel arches on the sides. On the sides the Xylo new Mahindra has rubber rails to protect it from side scratches apart from the blacked out pillars that give it a sporty look. The rear though has a slight touch and only the tail lamps have undergone a change. The interior seemed to have a lot of small touching here and there and the interior get a new beige color with dual tone. The steering wheel is newly designed with soft touch plastic on it.
The engine department is expected to remain the same as it is the mEagle engine and the DI engine that are performing well inside the Xylo. However, it will be not be surprising if Mahindra equips the new Mahindra Xylo with the 2.2L mHawk engine of Mahindra Scorpio. In addition to it is expected that the new Xylo would sport a four wheel drive system but it is still a speculation and only the new Xylo launch will tell whether it becomes the first MUV to have a four wheel drive system or not.
