Hyundai recently revealed the facelifted version of the Elantra premium sedan for 2019 model year. The Elantra, currently in its sixth-generation, will receive a mid-cycle facelift. The facelifted car will be launched in the US later this-year, while the rest of the world, including India, will receive it next-year.
Coming to its styling, the entire front has been redesigned to make the car look fresher than before. A new cascading grille makes its debut, wrapped into pointed triangular LED projected headlamps. At the rear, the car receives a new boot-lid, bumper and LED detailed tail-lamps.
We can also notice the license plate holder on the rear bumper along with new reverse lights. Judging by the rest of the exterior, we can say that the car remains virtually the same in that area. The alloy wheels on the car get an attractive new pattern, seen on the images above.
As far as its interior is concerned, there are not many changes compared to the current model. However, the instrument cluster and switchgear get some minor changes while there are new AC vents as well as a steering wheel. The Elantra facelift does have a long list of features like a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear-view camera, driver attention assist, lane-keep assist, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, a 12V charging socket and so on.
Engine-wise, the Elantra gets the 2.0-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine giving 152 BHP of power and 192 Nm of torque. As far as the diesel is concerned, we can expect a new 1.6 litre U3 CRDi motor, which gives 136 BHP of power and 320 Nm of torque to arrive here. It will replace the existing 1.6-litre U2 CRDi engine, which produces 128 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque.
Prices are expected to start from Rs. 13 lakh and go all the way to Rs. 20 lakh when launched. The facelifted Elantra will take on rivals like the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and the upcoming Honda Civic. We can expect the Elantra facelift to be launched here sometime next-year.
