The 2018 VW Polo (6th-gen) and Touareg SUV (3rd-gen) have been spotted in South Africa, together. These pics were shared by FerD, who has spotted the cars completely undisguised in South Africa.
Let’s start with the new Touareg. The latest photos give us a closer look at the updated front fascia which looks more or less similar to the VW T-Prime Concept showcased at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show. It adopts VW’s new family face with the large chrome radiator grille merges with the LED headlights and extends across the entire width of the body.
The rest of the prototype too is mostly familiar to us now – there’s a window line begins in the hood and ends in the side window of the D-pillar at the rear. The vehicle’s side profile displays sporty proportions with a long, extended bonnet and a matching extremely long roof section. As expected, the styling of the 3rd-gen Touareg closely mirrors that of the T-Prime Concept.
Next up, the Polo – here we also get a closer look at the front as well as the rear, and while it does look fairly reminiscent of the new Golf, we can see the design is sharper and edgier than its predecessor. From this spyshot, we can also make-out that the upcoming Polo will be longer and wider, offering more rear knee room and a bigger boot. The interiors of the new Polo haven’t been photographed.
Sadly, the 2018 Polo is likely to be underpinned by the MQB-A0 platform, shared with the Seat Ibiza and the upcoming new-generation Skoda Fabia. Why Sad? Because VW India appears to have scrapped plans to bring the MQB-A0 to the country. Also there will not be a Cross Polo variant derived from the sixth-gen Polo to address fears of positioning it with the upcoming VW T-Cross Breeze.
