With the Automatic Gear box becoming more and more popular in the Indian market, Nissan is ready with the facelifted version of the existing Micra, which has been equipped with the all-new CVT Automatic Gearbox. The facelifted Nissan Micra is expected to be launched by the end of this month as per the reports by our good friends at IndianCarsBikes (ICB). The facelifted Nissan Micra for Europe will be manufactured at the Renault’s Flins plant in France while the left-hand-drive version of this compact car would be produced in Europe. India would get Euro specification version of the car with addition of CVT variant in the line-up of powertrain options.
The CVT Automatic transmission Gearbox is inherited from Nissan Sunny Automatic. However the CVT engine in Micra is being embedded with a ECU Program which would provide more efficient and refined shifting of gears in order to make it more fuel-efficient than the Nissan Sunny. Nissan’s CVT automatic gearbox has achieved an improvement of 5% in terms of fuel economy when compared to 5-speed manual transmission. CVT would offer constant 76 bhp power without dropping the engine rpm, to deliver better response compared to the manual gearbox where the engine rpm drops while shifting from one gear to the other.
Coming to the specifications, the facelifted Nissan Micra would only be available with a 1.2-liter petrol engine. Apart from this Nissan Micra will be offered in 3 variants: XL, XV and XV premium. The XV variant would only be equipped with CVT gearbox whereas the XV premium version of car will host safety features and will be provided with ABS, EBD and twin airbags. The all-new Nissan Micra would also have changes such as redesigned bumpers, funky headlamps, changes in profile of bonnet and chrome inserts on the front bumper.
