The second-generation Volkswagen Tiguan has been spotted testing on Indian roads undisguised.

Already spied testing many times on Indian roads, the Tiguan was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. It will be Volkswagen’s only SUV offering until the Polo-based compact SUV arrives. Taking the inspiration from the Cross Blue Coupe Concept, the design language is sharper and sportier than the VW’s existing range of SUVs.

Based on the MQB platform, the new Tiguan is lighter than the first-gen model by over 50kg. It is bound to get a range of TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines from Golf premium hatchback. Both manual and DSG automatic transmissions will be in the offering, and the SUV will be available in both front-wheel-drive and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive guises.

Once launched, the Tiguan will rival the Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V in the Indian market.
