Volkswagen India launched updated Polo and Vento Highline variants

Volkswagen India recently launched the updated highline variants of its Polo and Vento with new features. However, the changes on the new model are very minor and not very eye-catching but surprisingly the car gets additional features and yet a very significant slash in their price. Now the fully loaded Polo Highline (Diesel) will come at a price of Rs 6.94 lacs, while the Vento highline (Diesel) at Rs 9.89 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Saxena, managing director, Volkswagen passenger cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said –

“The introduction of new features in the Polo and the Vento will further excite the customers as both the carlines will offer much more value now. The introduction of these features will pave the path for higher volumes for these carlines.”

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today launched its first hatchback segment Etios Liva at a press event at Delhi, which was displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2010. Etios sedan and the hatchback Etios Liva – built on the same platform – have been specifically developed for the Indian customers. Toyota Kirloskar has launched Liva with a base price tag of 3.99 lakhs (Ex showroom Delhi). The car is offered in the same variant as its big brother Etios sedan. Powered by an 1197cc 16-valve DOHC inline 4-cylinder petrol engine and mated to a 5 speed Manual, the Liva churn out 80 bhp @ 5,600 rpm and 10.6 kgm torque @ 3100 rpm. Only the petrol version is launched with a mileage of 18.63 kmpl ARAI certified. But Toyota needs to look into diesel variants of their hatch quickly. “India is an integral part of our global growth strategy. The engine, body line and suspension remain the same. It does come equipped with air conditioning. We just cannot understand Toyota’s take on this! Being 2011 we expect all Toyota cars to be equipped with power steering atleast. The price is the main factor on the base model. Etios Liva G power steering, power windows and central locking Etios Liva G (Special Edition) Additionally equipped with safety features. Air bags for driver and passenger along with ABS / EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) Etios Liva V Additional features like alloy wheels, high grade fabric seats, music system, dual seat color tone.
