Sweden-based commercial vehicle manufacturer, Volvo India announced the trial-run of its 14.5-metre-long multi-axle low floor city bus ‘Volvo 7400XL’ in Bangalore, India. This city bus is considered to be the Asia’s first 14.5 meter bus. Karnataka government-owned Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) held the run.

Earlier this-year, the Volvo 7400XL was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo 2012 held in Delhi. Step inside the coach and discover the finest of interiors with the most luxurious environment. It is also the country’s first city bus ready to support efficient mass bus-based transport systems and can ferry up to 110 passengers at a time.

The Volvo 7400XL is powered by the Volvo 7-litre diesel engine, with 290 hp of power. It is also equipped with a turbocharger and an intercooler. The bus has improved fuel efficiency with lower emissions and reduced road space consumption. The rear axle too is steerable, which makes the bus very maneuverable even inside the city.

These better fuel efficient buses can carry 100 plus passengers at the same ticket rates applicable in existing Volvo buses.  The first trial trip by the bus was from Shanthinagar TTMC to Hebbal. The trial will continue for 3 months on different routes. No much details or information known about the Volvo 7400XL at the moment.

The management at Volvo Buses India is elated with a touch of confidence to see the response Volvo buses are getting in India.  The trial launch of Multi-Axle Volvo 7400XL underlines the efforts made by Volvo to make public transport the preferred choice of public in a city.  So far Volvo buses have made their presence in 13 cities throughout India.

What we say? Take a ride and discover a new dimension of comfort in road travel from the most well-built bus as you glide on for miles. It is a coach in its own class and an inspiration to travel, like never before.

Hi there just stumbled upon your website via Google after I typed in, “The longest Volvo bus on trail-run in Bangalore – Asia’s first 14.5 meter bus | Bharath Autos” or perhaps something similar (can’t quite remember exactly). Anyhow, I’m happy I found it
simply because your content is exactly what I’m searching for (writing a university paper) and I hope you don’t mind if I gather some information
from here and I will of course credit you as the reference.

    Thank you so much.

Today Honda Cars India Limited has launched the firstever diesel car in their Indian portfolio, the Honda Amaze. This launch will bring nightmare to the class topper Maruti Swift Dzire, which had a monopoly till today in compact sedan segment. The Amaze comes with an option of diesel and petrol engine with various trim levels and also offers an automatic transmission variant in the petrol version (no automatic version in diesel). The Honda Amaza has been developed by Honda’s Asia Pacific R&D centre located in Bangkok, Thailand. The Amaze has been intelligently engineered to stay true to Honda’s philosophy of “Man Maximum Machine Minimum.” The Honda Amaze is priced between Rs. 4.99 – 7.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The reason behind the competitive price of Amaze is its high localization level of 90%. Is Amaze better than its rival Dzire? Although the design of Honda Amaze might not be appealing very much priced alongside its rival Swift DZire, but it seems to be the clear winner in almost every aspect. The Amaze does offer more, in terms of more interior room, higher quality, bigger boot, better brand name and more powerful diesel engine with higher mileage. Furthermore, here is one more plus that Amaze has earned, while the Dzire automatic has a 4-speed automatic transmission gearbox, it has best-in-class 5-speed mechanism. We all know the Amaze diesel belts out the best-in-class power output figure of 98.6bhp, around 25bhp more than the Dzire, or if you want a vehicle that offers good mileage, then it shocks you even more, despite being the most powerful vehicle in its league in terms of power, it returns the whooping 25.8kmpl of mileage, which no other car in the country offers today. And if service cost and other benefits you have in mind, Honda Amaze has comes with a standard warranty of 2 years or 40,000 Km (whichever is earlier). Buyers can option for a 2-years/ 40,000 kms maintenance package for Rs 9,996 (for petrol Amaze) and Rs 15,375 (for diesel Amaze). Bookings of the Amaze started on 1st April through Honda’s 150 dealers in 97 cities and have already received over 5,000 bookings, even before the launch. At the launch event, Honda said, Amaze has been specifically developed for India, and first to be built keeping in mind Indian buyers needs as the core. Honda believes when people drive the new Honda Amaze they will know it was worth the wait, and be truly Amaze’d.   Features of Honda Amaze - Alloy Wheels Fog Lamps Chrome Grille ORVM Mounted Turn Indicators Micro antenna Body colored outside door handles Body coloured ORVMs Electric Power Steering on all models AC with Heater on all models All 4-door power windows on all models Central locking Day night inside rear view mirrors Keyless entry Internally adjustable and power-folding outside rear view mirrors Rear seat arm rest Heat absorbing front windshield Tilt adjustment on steering wheel Fuel consumption meter ECO Lamp Vanity mirror with lid Tachometer Trunk light Single and dual tone beige option 2-DIN Audio system with Radio, MP3, USB and Aux Input Integrated speaker system Safety Features Include - Engine Immobilizer standard on all models ABS And EBD High mounted stop lamp at rear Dual SRS Airbags   Technical Specifications of Honda Amaze - Diesel Engine 1.5-litre iDTEC Diesel Engine 100 PS peak power @ 3600 RPM 200 Nm peak torque @1750 RPM 5-speed manual transmission ARAI tested mileage of 25.8 KMPL Petrol Engine 1.2-litre iVTEC Petrol Engine 88 PS peak power @ 6000 RPM 109 Nm peak torque @ 4500 RPM 5-speed manual transmission or 5-Speed Automatic transmission option ARAI tested mileage of 18 KMPL for MT and 15 KMPL for AT version   6 shades available in Honda Amaze - Majestic Blue Metallic Urban Titanium Metallic Carnelian Red Pearl Taffeta White Crystal Black Pearl Alabaster Silver Metallic   Prices of Honda Amaze (Ex-showroom, Delhi) - Petrol Prices Honda Amaze Petrol E - Rs. 4.99 lakh Honda Amaze Petrol EX - Rs. 5.24 lakh Honda Amaze Petrol S - Rs. 5.62 lakh Honda Amaze Petrol S (AT) - Rs. 6.62 lakh Honda Amaze Petrol VX - Rs. 6.60 lakh Honda Amaze Petrol VX (AT) - Rs. 7.50 lakh   Diesel Prices Honda Amaze Diesel E - Rs. 5.99 lakh Honda Amaze Diesel EX - Rs. 6.24 lakh Honda Amaze Diesel S - Rs. 6.67 lakh Honda Amaze Diesel VX - Rs. 7.60 lakh   Check out more pictures below the jump.   Also see - Spy Shots – First pictures of Honda Amaze i-DTEC diesel sedan
