Spied – Mahindra Maxximo passenger van

CarWale recently spotted a car on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, which looked more so like any of the Tata passenger vehicles which do their rounds here. But when we took a closer look at it, there were two things that got us thinking. The first being the strong character line on the door of the car which extends right to the rear and the second being that the badges on the car were covered. This was not a Tata but a Mahindra vehicle and a Passenger vehicle to be precise.

Spied – Mahindra Maxximo passenger van

Based on the Mahindra Maxximo, . What matters is under the skin – a 2-cylinder CRDI engine generating 24bhp and works with drive-by-wire technology, handy when the van is overloaded. The spacious 7 seater will have powerful load-sensing braking and an attractrive price tag of 3 lakh rupees or slightly more. Out in the market its prime enemy will be the best-selling Tata Ace Magic van. A people mover, the Maxximo Passenger vehicle will be priced close to 3 lakhs. Mahindra’s interest in this segment comes after the company invested Rs. 300 crore last year in its Chakan plant and its plans to expand the capacity at the plant are just infant steps to this project. We will soon see the car on Indian roads but we will get regularly update you with the latest.
