Second Indian woman from Hyderabad to own a Harley Davidson

American cruise bike manufacturer Harley Davidson has been successful in wooing its second woman customer. Kasthuri Deodhar, a Hyderabad based architect has purchased herself a brand new Harley Davidson Iron 883.

Kasthuri Deodhar expressed her happiness over becoming the owner of a Harley Davidson cruise bike. She said: “I am sure many more ladies would love to ride a Harley. I really liked when so many people stared at me while I was riding the bike.”

Mrs Deodhar is a bike enthusiast and her husband gifted her, the Rs.6.5 lakh Iron 883.She has previously owned a Yamaha Rajdoot 350 and a Bajaj Eliminator. Mrs Deodhar while speaking to the media said; “We used to have a Yamaha Rajdoot 350 and before that we had Bajaj Eliminator and now the Iron, the best that one can ask for.”

Harley Davidson India, Director (Marketing), Sanjay Tripathi said; “We strongly believe Harley Davidson is more of a state of mind and it transcends gender and age, we see a tremendous potential with Indian women riders. Even in the US, of all the bikes sold in 650 cc and above segment to women, Harley Davidson accounts for the highest number. This trend may also slowly come to India.”

Mrs Deodhar uses a Hyundai i10 to travel to work. She said she would like to use the Harley Davidson Iron 883 more as a recreational vehicle.

Harley Davidson is already running two worldwide campaigns to attract women buyers called Let Freedom Ring and We Ride – The Harley-Davidson Guide for Women. Women already account 12 per cent of Harley Davidson’s global sales which is the highest since the company was founded.
