2016 range of Porsche 911s launched in India – from Rs. 1.42 Crore

The Stuttgart-based luxury car brand, Porsche has launched an updated range of Porsche 911 supercars in India, with prices starting at Rs 1.42 crore for the base Carrera variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).

In India, the 2016 range of 911s is launched in India with both the body styles – coupe as well as in the convertible. A total of eight variants are on offer – Carrera, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Carrera 4 S, Turbo and Turbo S. All of these models were displayed at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show. The major highlight of the 2016 line up of its 911s is the presence of turbocharged engines in the Carrera series, apart from the GT3, GT3 RS and R models.

The entire Carrera range is now powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo, flat-six engine, which is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. On the Carrera, this engine develops 370 BHP and 450 Nm of torque, while the Carrera S variants produce 420 BHP and 500 Nm. The top-speed of the Carrera stands at 294.51 KMPH while the Carrera S now reaches 307.4 KMPH.

On the other hand, the 911 Turbo continues to be powered by a 3.8-litre turbocharged flat-six engine, which is equipped with a 7-speed PDK and Sport Chrono package as standard. The engine in the 911 Turbo variants output 540 BHP and 660 Nm, and the same engine is tuned up to 560 BHP of power and 700 Nm of torque for the more powerful 911 Turbo S.

Noteworthy features include a redesigned steering wheel inspired by the Porsche 918 Spyder, Porsche’s new 7.0-inch PCM touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Connect Plus module, leather trimmed sports seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, SPORT button, Bi-Xenon headlights, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Stability Management (PSM), tyre pressure monitoring, and Porsche Vehicle Tracking anti-theft system. A sports exhaust system can also be had as an optional feature.
