Ford India has recently said that within a short span of just seven months, more than 50,000 consumers have chosen to own the substantial package offered by its small car Figo making it only the second car in India to cross the 50,000 sales mark this fast. With its entry into hatchback segment with Figo in March 2010, Ford was aiming at a segment that is more than 70percent of the country’s growth in the sub B segment, Ford deliberately set out to offer a car that was more substantial and generous than other segment offerings, the company said.
In order to celebrate the production of 50,000th Figo, Ford has decided to launch a Figo road trip campaign in which a fully customized Figo would be driven from Chandigarh to Chennai. A special Figo has been crafted for the same reason with a vibrant and cool paint job done and accessories designed by Harun Robert (Popularly known as Rob), a popular children host known for his dance, music and artistic skills. Four young couples would drive the car in named as ‘Discover Smart’ Figo during the 25 day 2500 Kms drive which would starts in Chandigarh and passes through Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Gwalior, Indore, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Bangalore and many smaller cities and town before ending the extravaganza in Chennai on October 30th, 2010.The four couples have already been selected through a contest that was done across the country. There was a big response to the contest as not less than 450 cities in India participated.
The company claimed that following features made Figo a success: Its stylish looks at first glance, the cars solid, reliable and spacious. Interiors that impress hints of silver on the gearshift lever, AC control and audio system console set against a black dashboard and door panels further its touch of class. The seats are comfortable, fitted soft, feel-good fabric and facilitate a good view of the outside. Turn on the ignition, and the instrumental cluster looks impressive with several indicators lighting up. Safety first the top Figo Titanium variant comes with attributes such as front power windows, front dual airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), smart programmable keyless entry, intelligent central locking, engine immobilizer, rear wash wipe & defogger, remote boot open and electrically adjustable side mirrors.
Fuel efficiency taking the family for long drive will not burn a hole in the pocket of a Figo owner. The petrol variant gives about 12.5km (City) & 15.5km (Highway) respectively. The figures for diesel variants are 14.5km (City) & 18.5km (Highway) respectively. The Figo is available in both petrol and diesel variants and is priced between Rs 3.5lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh.
