Maruti Suzuki India dealers will not accept the bookings of Old Swift (existing version) anymore, which means that the new version will be launched in the Swift in a couple of months. This bit of information has been corroborated by reliable sources to be true that Maruti indeed will launch the new Swift in August 2011.
Sources revealed that, the old Swift’s production has been stopped as the company plans to discontinue the model. Earlier there was news that company would sell both the old and new Maruti Swift simultaneously. This would have helped the carmaker in charging a premium on the new Swift easily. Customers on a budget would opt for the old Swift and people looking for a premium hatchback would chose the new Swift.
The new Swift which would be available in 6 variants, including a ZDi variant would be positioned as a premium vehicle against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20. The price of the new Maruti Swift is expected to be around 30 Thousand rupees higher than the outgoing version, which isn’t too much considering the raft of changes that the new Swift is coming with.
The outgoing model will be replaced by an all-new Swift (codename: YP8) next month. The Swift was first unveiled by Suzuki in 2005 and soon became an instant hit in India. Now, Suzuki had unveiled the 3rd generation Suzuki Swift last year in Hungary. The 3rd generation Swift is slightly larger than the present one. Extensive higher strength steel has been used to make bodyshell lighter and stiffer.
