KTM unveiled the all new KTM RC 390 at the 2013 German Moto GP at the Sachsen ring circuit, last week. The much awaited RC 390 would be used in a new racing series at the 2014 ADAC Junior Cup. The recently launched KTM 390 Duke was a success and has already overtaken Honda CBR 250 and Kawasaki Ninja considering lower price, huge performance and additional features. As per the reports, KTM said that “the production version will roll out in 2014 and give the masses an affordable, quality sport bike for lower displacement motorcycles.”
But now KTM confirms that it will not just launch the RC 390 in 2014 but in fact it will also launch RC 250 at the EICMA Auto Show in Milan, later this November. Mr. Amit Nandi, Head, KTM India said that “Bajaj-KTM will launch two variants of the RC brand of faired racing bikes in the calendar year 2014 under the sub-500 cc category” . Considering the Indian buyers, KTM has managed to understand that most of the people in Indian market give more response to fully faired bikes, without giving priority to performance and handling of the motorcycle. So as a result, KTM has put the development of RC bikes on the top of their list.
The RC bikes will feature aerodynamic headlight and clip-on handle bars. The seating position will be slightly aggressive compared to the rather upright position on the Duke 200 and Duke 390. Apart from this, KTM RC 390’s hardware would be inherited from the KTM 390 Duke which comprises of Tubular space frame made from chrome molybdenum steel and powder-coated front suspension, WP Suspension Up Side Down rear suspension, Metzeler tyres and Radial brakes.
