Say hello to the 2015 Maruti Ertiga (facelift). Recently launched with a slew of cosmetic, feature and minor mechanical updates at starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base LXi petrol variant.
Outside, you’ll find redesigned headlamp, new three-slat chrome grille, new bumpers front and back, additional chrome detailing at the front and rear, new alloy wheels for the top trim and an SHVS badge on the tailgate (diesel only). A total of 6 colours are on offer – Radiant Beige (New), Pearl Blue Blaze (New), Serene Blue, Granite Grey, Silky Silver and Superior White. The out-going models colours like Firebrick Red, Ecru Beige and Dusky Brown have been omitted.
Inside, you’ll find a new upholstery, height adjustable driver’s seat, smart entry with an engine start-stop button, power folding wing mirrors, 50:50 split for the last row, rear wiper and washer with defogger. Feature-wise, the 2015 Ertiga now receives the 7.0-inch touch-screen SmartPlay entertainment system with integrated navigation, a new Bluetooth audio system, reverse parking sensors and a reverse parking camera.
The major upgrade seen on the Ertiga is under the hood with the availability of a SHVS mild-hybrid system that debuted in India in the Ciaz. Equipped with SHVS, Ertiga diesel now delivers an enhanced fuel efficiency of 24.52 kmpl, 18% higher than the outgoing version. Petrol variants also achieve 17.5 kmpl (9% improvement) by refining the acclaimed K14B engine. The petrol variant also gets optional 4-speed automatic transmission variant (available only in the VXi trim).
As far as safety is concerned, the Ertiga facelift gets driver airbag as standard across all the variants including the base L variants, while the ABS and front passenger airbag are offered as an optional extra on the base LXi/LDi variants. However other variants get ABS and front passenger airbag as standard.
