Volvo celebrates 85th anniversary with the Same Car in the Same Place

Volvo celebrates 85th anniversary with the Same Car in the Same Place

The Volvo Group has its beginnings rooted back in 1927 when the first mass-produced Volvo car rolled off the production line at the factory in Gothenburg on April 14, 1927 – the OV4. The event is still remembered with a very historic photograph of sales manager Hilmer Johansson driving the OV4 through the factory gates in Lundby in Gothenburg.

Volvo only made 280 cars that year.

Last week, Volvo celebrated that same photograph and its 85th anniversary as Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation, and Olof Persson, President and CEO of the Volvo Group, passed through the same gates in the same historic 1927 OV4.

“It’s a fantastic car, but it’s easy to see how much has changed over the last 85 years,” said Jacoby.
