Tata Manza CS coming in Late-2012

Tata Manza CS

This spy picture was spotted by Carwale a couple of months ago, the Tata Manza CS is on road tests and will get into production by late 2012. Cropping the boot to get a midsize saloon under the crucial 4-metre mark to benefit from the excise duty relief is a successful formula and this makes compact sedans about Rs. 30,000 to 40,000 cheaper than their longer counterparts. This means, the compact sedans cost very close to the hatchback with similar features.

The Manza CS will feature the same front fascia as the existing Manza, with large twin barrel headlamps, large chrome grille, aggressive front fascia and similar design at the rear with a smaller boot because of length restrictions of 4 meter.

The interiors of Manza CS will largely remain same with some downgrades possible on base variants to keep the pricing competitive. The Manza CS will give competition to premium hatchbacks, and other entry level sedans like Toyota Etios and Maruti Swift Dzire. Mahindra Verito is also a strong competitor in affordable sedan segment in India.

The Indigo CS has been a big seller since launch because of the price advantage. Tata would want to emulate their success with the Manza too and is said to be developing a sub 4-metre variant. If launched, the CS could use the Vista’s 1.2 petrol and 1.3 diesel engines. Like the Indigo CS, pricing should be competitive.
