The bookings have already started with a down payment of Rs 10 lakh at Porsche dealerships across India, while the deliveries are slated to commence only by November-December this year. In India, The Macan is currently sold in 258 PS 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine and 400 PS 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine. The new 2.0-litre petrol will be positioned below the two variants currently on-sale.

Under the bonnet, the entry-level Macan is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that spits-out 252 HP of power at 5000-6000 RPM and a peak torque of 370 Nm at 1600-4000 RPM. Similar to other Macan variants, it comes with an all-wheel-drive layout and Porsche’s 7-speed PDK auto gearbox. It has a claimed 0-100kph acceleration time of 6.7 seconds and top speed of 229kph.

At this price point the Macan doesn’t have any head-to-head competitor, whereas its direct rivals are a larger 7-seater Discovery Sport, the Mercedes GLE-class or the BMW X5. However, these cars come with diesel only engine option and are unlikely to be as sporty and agile as the Macan. As Audis, BMWs and Mercs have a become a common sighting these days, Porsche badge will surely to turn heads.
