SPY VIDEO: 2017 Yamaha YZF-R15 v3.0 testing on the road?

This is somewhat of a surprise, as spy videographers have caught a first glimpse of what is reckoned as the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R15 v3.0. In this video, most of that seems to have been hidden, save for a few elements.

Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 draws inspiration from YZF-R125 and YZF-R6.

Although it’s still in wraps, the 2017 YZF-R15 v3.0’s design appears to look very aggressive indeed, and is certainly to my personal tastes. We can clearly see from the spy pictures that Yamaha has used Upside Down Forks for front suspension and the Delta Box chassis seen on the current R15 is present too. The taillamp is sleeker and can trace its origins to the new R6.

The upcoming YZF-R15 v3.0 will further get first-in-the-segment full LED headlamps with a huge air intake (not sure if its functional). Braking duties are handled by all round disc brakes as on the current R15 and an ABS ring has not been seen yet on test bikes, leaving us speculating more about it. It runs on 17-inch blackened 5-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres.

The rendered picture shows Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 in a new Racing Blue color scheme.

The new powertrain is expected to get a bigger VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) mill with an engine displacement of around 155 cc. This will help the bike produce more power and will be more track focused than the current version. Expected to launch in the mid-2017, the YZF-R15 v3.0 will be priced more than the exiting model.
