At the on-going 2012 Paris Motor Show, Maserati unveiled the new GranCabrio MC – but besides that, the luxury Italian brand also unveiled the name of its upcoming SUV and sports luxury sedan (the one that will compete with the likes of the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class

“The new high-end E segment four-door sedan will be named Ghibli – a name that draws directly from Maserati’s rich and successful tradition,” Maserati said in a statement.

The SUV, as previewed by the Kubang Concept, will feature the Levante badge – “as in Via Emilia Levante in Bologna, where the Maserati brothers, almost a century ago, dreamt of the company that today still bears their name.”

Along with the next-generation Maserati Quattroporte, the three models are expected to help push sales beyond 50,000 units by 2015.
