Maruti Suzuki plans on launching UV’s, to launch 3 UV’s by 2020

India’s No.1 carmaker Maruti Suzuki has reportedly plans to launch 3 UV’s by 2020. The car maker will take this decision to cash in on the growing popularity of utility vehicles for the past couple of years. The company will be aiming to get the first place in India’s UV segment.

The UV’s may include an Ertiga based cross-over, a MPV version of the Wagon-R and a premium SUV. The Ertiga based crossover will feature 3 rows and will sport a good looking design. Even the MPV version of the Wagon-R will have 3 rows of seats.

After they are launched, Maruti will bring in a premium SUV rivalling the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta. News has also come out that Maruti are looking on upgrading its current crop of UV’s while the face-lifted S-cross has arrived, the car along with the Ertiga will be powered by a new 1.5-litre engine. It’s strong seller, the Vitara Brezza, is not far away from getting a petrol engine.

Maruti Suzuki will look to erase its image of the ‘people’s carmaker’ or ‘small carmaker’ here by launching the trio. Maruti looks to build on the success of the Vitara Brezza SUV, and bring in a couple of UV’s. We must wait and watch how much of an impact can it create in our market.
