Mahindra 2-Wheelers developing low-cost Mojo, to strip-off few features

Mahindra 2-Wheelers are currently working on a low-cost Mojo, which could revive their slow sales in the market. As per reports, the Mojo which could be cheaper by as much as Rs.25,000. Since the bike will come at a cost, it could be missing-out on some features.

The low-cost derivative is expected to be launched in 2018.

This may include Fuel Injection, USD Forks, exhaust and so on. Power of the bike would also be marginally lowered and the Mojo could be missing on the Mojo is the Pirelli Diablo Rossi Tyres, which would give way for cheaper MRF ones.

The company have also set their sights on launching more premium motorcycles in India and will also bring the Jawa brand back to India. These could help to bring volumes for Mahindra, who are currently not having a good time in the motorcycle market despite Mojo sales picking up. The low-cost Mojo has been recently spotted undergoing testing, and looked like it missed out on the features listed above.

In pipeline are 4 derivatives of Mojo, which will be made available through the newly opened Mojo-exclusive dealerships.

After launch, the Mojo may come at a price point similar to that of the Bajaj Dominar, and result in an intense competition. The minor changes resulting in a significant price reduction could bring sales. Mahindra are currently selling the Mojo at exclusive Mojo dealerships and it looks likely that the low-cost one so be also sold there.
