Hyundai India to unveil new hatchback in Auto Expo 2018

Hyundai are set to showcase a new hatchback in the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo. Codenamed AH2, this hatchback will sit below the Grand i10 in Hyundai’s India line-up. This hatchback will replace the i10, discontinued by Hyundai recently.

Hyundai has been testing this car for quite some time now. It was spied in Chennai, and a few days ago, in Delhi. Hyundai will also unveil the i20 facelift alongside this hatchback in the 2018 Auto Expo.

While there is no word yet on the official name of the car, rumours have been doing rounds that Hyundai will name the car the Santro. This would mark a return of the Santro nameplate, since that was the car which established Hyundai in India. It will be known as the ‘Hyundai family design concept’ with its focus more on practicality.

The spy images show that the car has a rear wiper and a tail-lamp cluster. Other spy image shows the car parked alongside the Eon, getting larger windows and a tall-boy design.

Specifications for the car have not come out yet, but expect that to arrive more sooner than later. This hatchback is expected to be priced around RS. 4-6 lakhs. Rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid.
