Hyundai i20 (Asta & Sportz) now gets LED daytime running lamps

Hyundai India has added in even more value to the i20 package with the LED daytime running lamps. This is part of the new fog lamp assembly that Hyundai has fitted on the new i20 as standard equipment in Asta and Sportz variants – which again makes this car the first amongst the segment to sport these in a hatchback. But don’t think this come for free as Hyundai is charging Rs 9750/- extra for those DRLs.

Before the launch of fluidic i20 in India, it was speculated that it would feature LED daytime running lights as seen in the export models. However, the Korean car maker had deleted the feature from the version sold in India to keep the prices in check. The company has now decided to offer the feature as option, making it first in segment – and still the most expensive in the segment.

The Hyundai i20 might be expensive compared to its nearest rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, but the vehicle offers many segment first features like 6-speed gearbox (diesel version), six airbags, automatic headlights, rain-sensing front wipers, a cooled glove box, electric sunroof, climate control along with an automatic dimming rear view mirror with an integrated reversing camera – the first standard application of this technology in the segment.

The company might offer similar daytime running lamps on the Verna fluidic sedan in the near future.
