Production Fiat Mobi hatchback revealed, no news on India launch

Fiat Brazil has launched the all-new Fiat Mobi today, which is a compact car that is developed for day-to-day city driving. Looks cute, isn’t it? The company has taken utmost care to equip this model with excellent quality and this is evident even in the texture of plastic used.

The Brazilian-market Mobi is available in six grades – Easy, Easy On, Like, Like On, Way and Way On. Prices start at R$31,900 (INR 6,08,253) mark for the base Easy model, and goes all the way up to R$43,800 (INR 8,35,156) for the top-of-the-line Way On Package.

According to Fiat, the Mobi is built around the Uno, the length and wheelbase of the car has been shortened to help gain stellar versatility in traffic. Put into numerical terms, the Mobi measures 1,633 mm wide, 1,502 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,305 mm. It has a ground clearance of 156mm and the boot can swallow 235 litres.

Moving on to the looks, the Mobi gains large headlights and front grille, and boot-lid integrated tail-lights. Base variants come with 13-inch steel wheels while higher variants are shod with 14-inch rims; top-end variant gets 14-inch alloys. 40 Mopar accessories are available to make the car more fun, functional and easier to use.

As for the insides, the Mobi gets an instrument cluster with a digital display, steering-mounted audio controls, and a 4-inch infotainment system display with Bluetooth, USB and aux connectivity. The Mobi also gets Fiat’s Live On device, which turns the user’s smartphone into the car’s multimedia interface.

Under the hood, the Mobi is equipped with a 1.0-litre four-cylinder flex-fuel engine that develops 77 hp (petrol)/75 hp (ethanol) and 93 Nm (petrol)/97 Nm (ethanol) of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via a standard 5-speed manual gearbox. The Mobi comes with a 47-litre fuel tank.

The Mobi is bigger in size compared to its direct rival Renault Kwid. However, there is no comment yet from Fiat India on the Mobi’s arrival into the Indian car market.
