Indian Racer on two and four wheels Ashwin Sundar (27) along with his wife Niveditha (26) a doctor, passed away in a road accident in Chennai in the wee hours of Saturday.
The couple was travelling in their BMW Z4, Ashwin was at the wheel when it crashed into a tree and bursted into flames, sadly the two occupants couldn’t manage to get out in time. Passersby and eyewitnesses say that the two-seater convertible got stuck between the tree and a wall, which trapped the couple inside.
Since the roof was in retracted position, the onlookers thought the occupants would have fled the vehicle. Only when the flames doused the vehicle they came to know about the couple inside. But the car engulfed in flames in no time and exploded multiple times, also the heat from the fire was too intense that made the on-lookers retracted.
The police and fire department were alerted about the incident immediately, though by the time their teams reached the spot and doused the fire, it was too late to save the couple. Police sources said that the car might have been doing around 120 kmph, and lost control soon after it hit the speed-breaker, and rammed into a compound wall with headfirst, and then hit the tree.
Ashwin had won the MRF Formula 1600 International Challenge in 2010 and 2011, and was the national champion in LGB F4 category in 2012 and 2013. He also participated in German Formula Volkswagen ADAC Championship. His wife was a doctor at a private hospital in Chennai.
‘May God give the strength to both the family in this tough times. RIP Ashwin Sundar & Niveditha.’
